Health In The Context of Italian culture (uconj 410)
EXPLORATION SEMINAR
Studying in Italy is one of my most cherished memories as a UW student. In the summer of 2013 I traveled to Italy to study how social, political, and economic factors shape Italian and U.S. health care systems differently. The most influential component of this program was the cultural immersion! Within a month we traveled to eleven different cities to explore ways culture plays such a large role in health outcomes throughout Italy.
Where did I travel?
Lucca, Verona, Padova, Vicenza, Morono, Venice, Rome, Cinque Terre, Pisa, Mossano, and Florence!
Favorite City:
Venice was beautiful and Florence was fun, but I would have to say my favorite city was Lucca. Lucca isn’t the typical big touristy city that everyone knows. There was no coliseum or leaning tower to admire, but to me the small town felt like home. In Lucca we could really experience what it means to live and breathe like Italians.

general chemistry (chem 152)
Taking this course made me realize that I truly enjoyed science. This was my favorite course out of the entire general chemistry series. We covered gas phase and aqueous equilibria, thermochemistry, thermodynamics, and electrochemistry. By the end of the quarter I had earned an A in the class and Professor Craig was very engaging as well! I remember she came to class one day and did a little dance to explain molecular orbitals.
